Brown-Gorham 2 Most people are aware that federal student loans are a type of financial aid that must be repaid to the federal government, unlike grants or scholarships. Federal student loans are administered by the United States Government by way of the Department of Education. These loans can be directly made to the student, or to the parents of the student. Students have two choices: Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans. Parents have the option to take out a loan on the students behalf, this is called a Parent PLUS loan. Direct Subsidized student loans are need-based loans available to undergraduate students. The institution determines the limit on how much you can borrow. Unlike the unsubsidized loans, the interest on subsidized loans is paid by the U.S. Department of Education while the student is in school at least half-time and for six months after you leave. Stephen J. Rose, a professor at Georgetown University wrote an article in 2010 that speaks directly to why student loans. The development of writing begins as early as we learn how to write letters in preschool or kindergarten. Writing grows as we learn to read and write throughout our school days and beyond. Everyone has a unique story of his or her writing experiences; some have horrible experience, while others may have mentors that inspired them. One’s history, experiences, issues and the process of writing, all plays into how I, myself progress in writing. Many years have passed sense learning to write, that there is little that I recall. There was really no such thing as preschool when I was young. But, like most small children, learning to hold a pencil and writing on wide, very wide line paper by following the dotted line to form letters is how I learn to write letters. While preschool was foggy, third grade contains a small memory of writing. I went to three school that year but the second school our teacher had us write and draw a picture story, mine was about a car accident. It seemed like a weird thing to write about but looking back it must have been a lesson on safety. I may have remember this because I actually still have it. Subsequently, in middle school and high school years I recall writing a lot more. It was fate that Oedipus was able to solve the Sphinx riddle. Oedipus also was fated with hubris or pride. His pride forced him to kill his own father because he refused to pay a toll or give another the right of way. Oedipuss pride prevents him from seeing the truth. Oedipus is blinded by his pride and cannot accept that he could not avoid his fate. The irony is that the only time Oedipus is not blinded by his pride, is when he blinds himself physically. Had Oedipus not had some much pride, he would have listened to Creon and understood the truth in Teiresias. By the time Oedipus reaches Colonus he realizes that he is was not responsible for his fate. His fate and his pride are the factors involved in where he feels he should die and be buried. His fate was told to him that he would rest the holy ground of Eumenides. Oedipus has his daughters perform rites when the citizens tell him he has to perform them for trespassing on holy ground. His never apologizes for his trespass, but rather regard himself as holding knowledge of the gods beyond that of the citizens due to his pride. Oedipuss pride makes him feel that his sons should have tried to stop his exile, so his refuses to be buried by Thebes and give the city the strength and protection, the blessing the gods put on his body. It is also his pride preventing him to talk with his son, Polynices, when he comes to Athens. When Creon justifies his actions of threatening to seize Oedipus and make him go back to Thebes to Theseus, Oedipus pridefully argues that his fate was put on him by the gods, that he caused none of it. Believing in him, Theseus goes after Creon to get Oedipuss daughters back. The play ends when Oedipus tells Theseus he will reward him for brining his daughters back by giving Athens is body to bury for the blessings of the gods. Did he do this out of his gratitude to Theseus or was he thinking of his foretold fate?

In this case, various psychological contracts are established between the employees and their employers. As reported by Coyle-Shapiro (2005: 87), there are two main psychological contracts which include transactional and relational contracts. In transactional psychological contracts, short-run work relationships between employers and employees are established by having a certain set of obligations to be met. Notably, Peetz Pocock (2009: 49) considers transactional psychological contracts as being economically oriented as they are reasonably specific. This is d ue to their short-term nature as the employers seek to determine the reliability of their employees in terms of work commitment. With the introduction of strategic human resources management, it has been possible for organizations to conform to the industrial relations requirements. In Australia, the introduction of scientific management practices among organizations, consistency and coherence in designing and implementing strategic human resources management has been realized. Contingency framework of employee-employer relationships have been largely understood, making organizations comply with the requirements of the legislation and labor force acts for successful implementation of their strategic plans. As evidenced by Cooper and Ellem (2008: 541), the rationale of using cost-efficiency and the market requirements has been the ultimate strategy of realizing quality production as a result of a highly motivated employee body. The most critical perspective of the employee-employer r elationship is taken on the basis of how the external environment, including unions and associations, are impacting management practices by HRM, where employment contracts are largely employed. Breaching of these psychological contracts has been revealed to have large effect the overall organizational coherence between employees and the employer. Suppose the employer fails to subdue the agreement made in the employment terms, by either delaying payments or applying more strict work terms than agreed, employees are highly discouraged. By failing to conform to the expected behavior, employers usually cause lot interference in terms of trust to their employees. Such an act would be described as breaching of psychological contract since the employer would have failed to sustain the psychological requirements agreed during the time of employment. Brigden (2009: 375) considers the development of conflict between employers and employees as arousing from breaching of psychological contracts , but not necessarily on the basis of formal obligations. Conclusion With the rise of modernism, the Australian workforce has largely changed, where employers and employees are ultimately under legal formalities more than the psychological contracts previously employed in traditional organizations. As it has been revealed, equality in jobs allocation in terms of gender has been employed in the Australian Labor Laws, resulting into high control of employment terms by the legal formalities. With DCN, I believe that the causes and symptoms of various mental disorders such as schizophrenia, amnesia, autism and Alzheimer’s will be brought to a better light. From the article, it was mentioned that in DCN, the â€Å"methods involve the imaging of brain function in noninvasive ways that are very safe and friendly to infants and their parents.† Although the proponents of this method being used for imaging the brain function claim that it is safe, I still doubt whether there a number of parents who would allow their babies to become â€Å"guinea pigs† and undergo such experiments. I think that this can be a possible hindrance in the further advancement of DCN in the area of infant brain development. I also wonder whether this method of studying brain functions could be applied not only to babies but to geriatric individuals as well. If it is possible, then the medical world will probably have a better understanding of mental disorders like Alzheimer’s, which is common to old people.
